Job Description
The City of Chesapeake, Virginia, Planning Department is seeking a motivated planning professional to join our team. This position will lead new studies and plans related to the long-range future of our city. Experience with working with consultants, communicating with citizen groups, area planning, and excellent writing skills are all preferred qualifications. Required Qualifications
VOCATIONAL/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT: Requires a bachelor’s degree or any equivalent combination of education and experience in planning or a closely related field.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT: In addition to satisfying the vocational/education standards, this class requires a minimum of two years of full-time equivalent experience.
SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES: Depending on operational needs, may require a valid driver’s license and a driving record in compliance with the City’s Driving Standards.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.
